Michael Horning, Jr., M.Ed.
Michael Horning, Jr. has worked for over seventeen years as an educator at many academic levels and settings. Mr. Horning has served as a middle school social studies teacher, museum educator, instructional technology specialist and adjunct professor, leading multiple practical experiences in utilizing technologies in the classroom with various instructional approaches.
These experiences led Mr. Horning to the award-winning Center for Applied Technologies in Education at the University at Buffalo. Within the largest public research institution in the State of New York, his activities at the Center focused on the development of “standards-based systems” resulting in the NYLearns.org project. As the Associate Director of the Center and, with the support of the University, Mr. Horning co-founded 3rd Learning in 2007, to expand the group’s work.
In 2012, 3rd Learning and Performance Learning Systems (PLS) merged into one organization: PLS 3rd Learning. Mr. Horning continues in a leadership position within the new origination as an Executive Vice President primarily focusing on business development of new partners and projects. Along with the executive team, Mr. Horning remains involved in current projects as well as organizational strategy.
